“You can’t dismantle the master’s house with the master’s tools” – Audre Lorde

In addition to our own productions, 7th Gen Creatives also wants to facilitate other initiatives in which creatives can develop the knowledge, skills and creative concepts based on the mission and vision of 7th Gen Creatives. 7th Gen Creatives mainly offers a community of creative professionals who can serve as a sounding board, a vision and strategy to contribute to the decolonial movement as a creative and a technical infrastructure for fund applications.

By no longer operating within the framework of “the master’s house”, a metaphor for white institutions in the art and culture sector, but by building our own (production) house, we as 7th Gen Creatives want to create an autonomous space for creatives who want to create art in service of social struggle.

7th Gen Creatives is a production house for creatives who want to contribute to decolonization and the social movement for justice. This regards creatives with a formal infrastructure who are looking for a community and sounding board of like-minded people, as well as creatives without a formal infrastructure who endorse the vision of 7th Gen Creatives and want to carry out productions in the name of our production house.

7th Gen Creatives is not for creatives who are solelylooking for financial resources or promotional platforms.

Each project team under 7th Gen Creatives is responsible for applying for and generating financial resources for that specific project.

Creatives who want to join 7th Gen Creatives acknowledge the following pillars:

● With your creative concept(s), you contribute to the decolonial movement and social movement for justice.

● You want to create a sustainable impact with your creative concept(s) that can continue for 7 generations after you.

● You take lived experiences of marginalized communities and people from marginalized communities themselves as a starting point for your creative concept(s) in both the concept development, the production process and the final product.

7th Gen Creatives offers creatives the following possibilities:

● Sounding board: a community of creative professionals who can serve as a sounding board for project ideas and concrete project plans.

● Vision and strategy: a production process in which we engage in a continuous conversation on how your project relates to the decolonial movement and what this means for your role and strategy as a creative.

● Infrastructure: a formal infrastructure that you can use to apply for funding for your project in which 7th Gen Creatives can act as secretary, but project leaders themselves are responsible for the project plan and securing resources

7th Gen Creatives offers a program to creatives in which they are introduced to the philosophy of our production house. This focuses on what it means to specifically create art in the service of social struggle and how 7th Gen Creatives puts this in practice.

After completing the program, creatives can determine in consultation with 7th Gen Creatives whether they want to carry out productions in the name of 7th Gen Creatives or explore other forms of collaboration. Click here for more information.
