7th Gen Creatives is a production house for social creative concepts. Inspired by the 7th generation principle of the Indigenous Haudenosaunee philosophy, we specifically focus on creative projects that serve social struggle. This means that we create art that contributes to emancipation and liberation of colonized communities. The 7th generation principle means that choices and actions we make as people must create a sustainable impact that can continue for 7 generations after us. We hope that our projects can contribute to a process of decolonization that generations after us can build on.
Our work is based on three pillars
Community driven
Our work is driven by and focused on community engagement, community building and community relations. We regard our as a means to build the social movement for emancipation and liberation of colonized communities.
Centering the marginalized
Our productions are developed and executed by and for people from colonized communities. Our starting point is the lived experiences, perspectives and visions of people of color without having to relate to a white norm.
Creative innovation
Our productions have a creative approach that goes beyond the beaten track. Innovation within genres, connecting art forms and pushing boundaries are key in our work.
