Naya Daur (“New Era”) captures this journey in a musical documentary where songs from Hindustani history intertwine with personal stories and historical events. Through music, dance, and analysis, viewers are taken along the path of how the Hindustani community has developed across generations—and how it has claimed its rightful place in society.
More than a Film: A Collective Tribute
Naya Daur is a collective tribute to 150 years of Hindustani history, culture, and community. The film brings together Hindustanis from different generations and continents—from concept development to the expression in music, dance, words, and imagery.
It is a collaboration of people who carry this history within them and now come together to tell the story. From Suriname to the Netherlands, from artists to researchers, from youth to elders—the film weaves voices, perspectives, and experiences into one powerful whole.
